Setting

The setting is established in multiple ways in this game such as: The setting seems to be a warzone because there are explosions, gun shots and phrases like “whiskey 2 5 0” and “fine young soldiers” are used. Someone is treading through something seems like snow. The game also seems to be set in the future since futuristic sci-fi noises are used. On the radio you hear static which symbolises that something has gone wrong and communications have been lost by this you know that you are on your own from here on out or until you manage to connect again. At one point you find out that the enemies aren’t humans, most likely aliens because of the Sci-fi like noises, if they weren’t in the game I would most likely believe it to be a zombie game. Near to the end a man is in his house listening to his voicemail. When the man gets captured it shows that the guy is of great importance and has good abilities.
·         Dialogue has been used to point out the nature of their problem.
·         Foley artistry – footsteps but it could also have been made with Audio field recordings.
·         The explosions could have been made using VST or even field recordings could work.
Mood

The mood is influenced by the tone of voice of those who are talking as well as the instruments they use. The mood is very dark; they do this by using loud voices and saying “fine young soldiers and gunshots to make you think that there are people dying. They make a dreary atmosphere with a violin and make more tension with drums. The people start to seem panicked by how their voices sound.
·         Dialogue was used to show how people were dying.
·         Traditional instruments like violins and drums help give an atmosphere of impending doom
·         VST/Traditional
Game genre

It seems like it could be a FPS because you hear about soldiers and here about gunshots. The game has very eerily sounds in it that leads me to believe that it’s a horror. It may be a romance from how we hear someone saying they’re getting over him which is a classic trope where in the end they usually get back together. There classic futuristic noises that seem like classic noises that have just come out of star trek so it could also be Sci-Fi.
·         The gunshots could have been made with VST or even field recordings
·         Traditional instruments like violin influence horror
·         The dialogue makes you think romance
Narrative

There is an unknown objective, the man is alone, the terms “fine young soldiers” and “general” make you think army, a worldwide disaster has happened, something is coming, futuristic message – British woman says “moving on” – could be an ex-lover?, he throws the phone and swipes the paper to the ground dramatically, the guy gets captured, they have a job for him, someone has been lost, he knows (loves?)  her
·         The narrative is mostly influenced by dialogue because it tells the story
·         A violin makes you think that something is coming and makes tension

Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Secret Ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBl7ltdeEvw

Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples of sounds that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting

It’s during a fight which the MC is winning, it’s a very supernatural world because there are non-natural explosions. I can also hear Sean Schemmel voice who does the voicing for Goku which can be heard talking so instantly know that it is based off of the well-known dragon ball franchise and know that it is a supernatural fighting anime. It also has a friendship is power theme where when your friends need you, you become more powerful to help them.
·         I can tell that the MC is winning because of the dialogue used by the enemy “impossible”
·         Dialogue also shows that his friemnds are supporting him
·         VST or field recording could have been used to produce the explosions
Mood

It is a very serious tone which is shown when the enemy yells “Die” and It becomes positive because you hear his Friends believing in him and giving him power also the story ends on a high note because the music at the end showed that good had won
·          Dialogue was sued to show off how serious the tone was and that such matters would not of been on a game for children.
·         But it did seem like something out of a show the way the MC’s friends all believed in him and made him stronger.
·         The ending tune was made using VST to make it seem like a very positive and concluding ending.
Game genre

It is a Fighting game because I heard powerful blasts and explosions in the middle of a fight and that I could tell from the enemy that he was being defeated. Super natural because of the blasts made it seem just like a supernatural fight from games I have played before and the enemy yells out “I am a God” so if this were to be true or even slightly right then that means that enemy would have had some kind of supernatural power
·         Dialogue and VST were used to make the genre standout such as when the enemy said what he was and for a character to stand up to that the you must also have powers similar to them
Narrative

Moaning, “damn you!” – classic villain being defeated quote, blast, explosion, being overpowered, other people joining in and helping out, from what I can tell the MC is getting more power, bigger blast, the enemy says “I am a God” and “impossible” to show that the MC is really powerful and has defeated him, battle over, music is far more calm to show that piece is back.
·         There isn’t that much dialogue in it but you get a lot just from hearing them speak because you learn what the enemy is and what position he is in, you also hear that there are people counting on the MC to win
·         More dialogue was used to show that the enemy had lost and that the battle between good and evil was over
·         VST was used to show the calmness at the end and because no words were said it shows that it was the end of the game

Fire Emblem Awakening (Cutscene) – Cataclysm (0:00 – 2:38)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ5EQcLJ9C4

Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples of sounds that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting

The setting is established in different ways such as: You instantly know it’s a dangerous situation when someone shouts “run”. Sounds like something falling from the sky as well as other things make it sound like the end of the world. Moaning noises such as screams and others which show that there are people in turmoil. “Chrom what is that” somethings unknown is going on, maybe even magical which sounds like something I hear in the clip. Someone drew a sword meaning that this world is one that doesn’t use guns probably a medieval style battle system where you fight at close range just like the game “Chivalry”. A fight is going on and bones breaking and snapping, I don’t know if this is happening to good guys or the zombies. Zombie noises so it could be a zombie apocalypse but one that takes place before weaponry as to make it a very different type of zombie game.
·         Dialogue has been used to show the urgency and confusion that is happening around the characters.
·         I believe that Foley artistry has been used to make a fiery noise and that it could have been tradition instruments such as drums or VST to make the crash noises.
·         The swords and fighting scenes would probably been Foley artistry made by using pieces of metal.
·         The zombie noises could have been dialogue or field recordings as to make groaning noises.
Mood

A dangerous atmosphere is made by a guy yelling “Lissa run”, panting, screams and things that are crashing down to the ground. Anxious – “I mean it”, “what is that?” The background music makes it seem anxious yet doesn’t take away from the dialogue by being too loud.
·         A dangerous atmosphere is made by the use of dialogue as well as probably Foley artistry.
Game genre

It seems to be a Medieval game since that’s when the majority of swords were used but I also hear. Zombie’s groaning so it seems to be a zombie themed game. Fighting game is shown by the metallic clashing. It could also be a Monster game and not just zombies in general. I also think it could be a Magical game because I heard classic noises/tropes from magical games, “quite an entrance”

·        The medieval genre comes from the fact that sword are being used which I think could have been made with Foley artistry
·        The zombie noises could have been made by someone’s voice so it would be dialogue
·        Dialogue and VST was used to make the classic magical noises that I heard
Narrative

Something dangerous is going on and someone says – “run”, Sounds like something falling from high up, Moaning noises such as screams and other noises, “Chrom, what is that” somethings unknown is going on, Someone drew a sword, zombie noises, A fight is going on and bones breaking, Fierce battle. Woman moans and drops, a new fighter, she’s in trouble, Chrom joins in and teams up to finish off the enemy, then he makes a final moan. The woman entered in a mysterious/strange was – “Quite an entrance”
·        Certain aspects such as how the characters feel and the dangers they’re in are shown by dialogue
·        The bones that are breaking as well as the action noises could be made by Foley artistry.

South Park: The Stick of Truth - Opening Cinematic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJxb6d94zEs

Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples of sounds that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting

You’re able to tell that it’s a different world because it talks about where they area and its called the lands of Zaron and that they are the humans of Kuprakey. You can also tell that it is a very mystical world because they have been attacked by elves which only exist in fantasy; they also must have magic because they have a grand wizard and ancient magical artefacts such as the stick of truth. The world is also war ridden because it say how they struggled to stay alive and you can also hear screams in the background and they also talk about the tides of war. But it also sounds like a narcissistic child talking because he says that the grand wizard is so undeniably cool and that there is going to be a new kid that lets me believe that it’s all make belief.
·         It is almost completely made up of dialogue since they talk about everything so that they can catch the player up with the lore of the world
·         They also had screams which would most likely have been made in a recording room but could have also been made by recording things such as a stadium cheering with a bit of editing.
Mood

It seems to be a very mystic and magical world it also. It talks about death and wars which make it seem like a very dark and dreary game. It starts to gets very confusing with its words because of how childish it sounds closer to the end when they start to talk about a kid and sounds narcissistic.
·         The mood is set up by how the character talks such as when he talks about death he has a very deep and dark voice
·         But when he talks about how cool the grand wizard is he sound very narcissistic which could point to him being the grand wizard himself
Game genre

It is definitely a Fantasy game because of how they have ancient artefacts as well as different magical creatures in their world; its theme also gives off of the same theme as game of thrones. It’s also a Fighting game because of how it starts to talk about war which means that there will be fighting inside the mechanics. It has a grand wizard which means that you will probably learn magic off of him.
·         The fantasy like music reminds of game of thrones and I believe that this music has been made by using tradition instruments
·         Since it’s a  narrative its mad up of complete dialogue
·         There are also screams in the background which would most likely have been made in a studio by multiple people and then blended together
·         And there is also a magical bang when they talk about the grand wizard which could have been made with VST or audio field recording
Narrative

In the lands of zaron, humans of kuprakey struggled to stay alive after being attacked by the wicked drow elves, their king the grand wizard who’s powerful but they put it in a very childish way which is strange, he has an item called the stick of truth and anyone who has the stick can control the universe and they will be able to turn the tides of war and protect the stick with the help of the new kid

·         Almost everything ha been done in dialogue since it’s the narrative for a story
